Established in 1961 in the Twin Cities with a core nucleus from the Retka family, The Jolly Huntsmen Band have entertained folks in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota with its music for almost 50 years. The Jolly Huntsmen have been featured performers at the Minnesota Orchestra's Viennese Sommerfest for 22 straight years and made 3 appearances at the Minnesota State Fair.

Founded by L.M. Retka, and now led by his accordionist son Tom Retka, and featuring multi-instrument talented brothers Dan and David, the Jolly Huntsmen produce some of the most authentic traditional polka music around. Outfitted in traditional German lederhosen, The Jolly Huntsmen capture the music, rollicking spirit and feeling of the old-world. The Jolly Huntsmen perform in combinations of 3-9 musicians. The larger ensembles include some of the Twin Cities area great musician's who enjoy the Jolly Huntsmen arrangements written by Tom.

The Jolly Huntsmen provide their music and entertainment for concerts, private parties, company events and perform at a great number of Oktoberfest celebrations each year.
